The Perhentian Islands are on the eastern coast of Malaysia, right beneath Thailand. With the years, they became more and more famous but it’s still a very nice and laid back place to stay. A lot of possibilities to eat and stay and beautiful Beaches.

You reach them, when you take a flight from KL – LCCT to Kota Bahru. From there you take a taxi to Kuala Besut (50km). Don’t worry, the Taxi is not expensive and the drivers at the airport are used to drive Tourists to Kuala Besut. From there, boats are leaving every hour to the Islands.

You can choose between Perhentian Kecil (Small Islandm more Party and Bars) or Perhentian Besar (more laid back). I’ve only been to the big one, so the following lines relating to that.

My recommendation is The Coral View Resort. It is right at the upper corner and you have direct access to the nicest beach.

Things to do
Diving – Easy Divesites, most of them not deeper than 20m. One Topspot with possibility for Whalesharks. Perfect, if you want to learn diving.

Snorkeling – Pretty cool, Turtles, Sharks,a lot of fish

Theres even a trail into the Rainforest…but do not forget your Moskito Repellent…;)
